Please join us as we explore the impact of the arts on our overall health and wellness. In this program, The Art of Wellness, we will be joined by psychologist, author, and lecturer Dr. Dale Atkins for a thought-provoking conversation on the role of the arts in supporting emotional well-being, resilience, and connection. While the importance of physical exercise is widely recognized, this event invites us to consider how engagement with the arts can be just as vital to our overall health.
Through a blend of live musical performances and discussion, we will explore how the artscan reduce stress, enhance mood, and foster a sense of community across the lifespan. Join us for an evening that celebrates the powerful intersection of artistic expression and human wellness through the lens of vocal health and psychology.
Dr. Dale Atkins is a licensed psychologist, educator, storyteller and nature enthusiast with more than forty years of experience focusing on families, wellness, managing stress, and living a balanced, meaningful life. Author of nine books and many chapters, articles, and journals for popular and professional audiences, Dale is a featured speaker who lectures and leads seminars worldwide. Dale has appeared regularly on NBC’s TODAY and CNN. Dale has a private psychology practice in New York City and has been a member of, and advisor to several nonprofit boards, including Jumpstart for Young Children and WHAM (Women’s Health Access Matters).
She holds a B.S. from NYU, an MA from Columbia University’s Teachers College, and a Ph.D. from UCLA. She and her husband live in Old Greenwich and have two children and six grandchildren. Drawing on her own experiences with family, memory the cycles of change, and research in child development, her first children’s book The Turquoise Butterfly released in January, 2026 to help children and families explore the complex emotions of anxiety, grief and transformation in a hopeful, accessible way. Her work reflects a deep belief in the healing power of stories, music and art, and the importance of honoring inter-age bonds.
Her next book, Dear Deer, expected in June of 2026, offers a compelling alternative to screen time: encourage kids to “wonder, ponder, and wait.” In nature, there is no rush—only discovery. Whether observing wildlife, building something from found materials, or simply sitting quietly, children develop patience, curiosity, and a deeper connection to the world.
